Duke has continued its dominant run in conference play, posting a 5-0 record while averaging nearly 86 points per game and boasting one of the highest scoring margins in the conference. The Blue Devils recently secured a convincing road win at California to improve their NET ranking and confirm their status as a conference title favorite. But Duke has won just one of its five ACC games by double-digits, which could be a problem with the Blue Devils being favored by close to 10 points tonight.
Stanford has gained confidence from a thrilling win over North Carolina, powered by an explosive 36‑point performance from freshman guard Ebuka Okorie. Okorie has emerged as a dynamic offensive threat for the Cardinal. Duke will need to manage its occasional free-throw inefficiency, one of their only weaknesses this season, but its balance and depth will be tested by Stanford’s perimeter shooting and home-court advantage.
Duke is one of three teams yet to lose a game in ACC play, joining Miami and Clemson in that club. While Duke will be the favorite to win the ACC Tournament no matter what happens between now and March, continuing to win games will make the path as easy as possible for the Blue Devils in terms of tournament seeding.
Duke should be able to get a win on the road to stay unbeaten in the ACC for the season. But I'm going to take the points with Stanford in this matchup. Okorie is playing at an elite level for the Cardinal, and his scoring should keep Stanford within striking distance in this game, even if Duke should ultimately get the win out west.
