Oklahoma Sooners vs West Virginia Mountaineers Prediction: Who Wins the College Basketball Crown Title?

The Maryland Terrapins will host the Georgetown Hoyas in College Park on Friday night. Both teams defeated lower-tier opponents to open their seasons and they will try to notch a second straight win in their first test against a power conference foe. Here, I break down this Big Ten vs Big East matchup and bring you my Georgetown vs Maryland prediction.
Maryland enters this game off a strong season-opening performance. They defeated Coppin State by 22 and were clearly superior on both ends of the floor in that game. The Terps scored 83 points while allowing only 61. But that is what a team like Maryland is supposed to do against a team like Coppin State and we will learn more about the Terps here.
Georgetown also opened 1‑0 with a 17-point win over Morgan State. But the Hoyas struggled shooting from three‑point range. They went 4/26 shooting the three against Morgan State. The Hoyas have to shoot the ball better if they want to get out of College Park with a win.
Both of these programs were among the best in college basketball not too long ago. Georgetown has fallen on hard times as a program in recent years. But Maryland is coming off a run in last year's NCAA Tournament and will try to build on that despite losing talented players like NBA draftee Derik Queen after that run.
Score Projection: Maryland 78 – Georgetown 67
Win Probability: Maryland 75% | Georgetown 25%
I'm going to go with Maryland to win and cover the spread on their home floor against Georgetown here. The Terps should have the upper hand in this beltway matchup thanks in large part to their defense. The Terrapins are ranked in the top 20 out of 365 Division I teams in KenPom's defensive ratings going into this game. That defense is also the reason that I'm going to take the under in this contest, as Maryland should make it a long night for the Georgetown offense.
