Maryland (2–1) is still finding its identity under head coach Buzz Williams, who returns to the building where he once coached at Marquette from 2008–14. The Terrapins are counting on Pharrel Payne, who has averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game to start the season. He dropped 22 points in their recent 84–64 win over Alcorn State. Maryland lost its only real test of the season so far against Georgetown and will hope to fare better in this game.
Marquette is 3–1 and brings plenty of experience into this game. The Golden Eagles’ offense is led by senior guard Chase Ross, who has averaged 18.3 points per game in their early matchups. Veteran forward Ben Gold will be key on the boards, averaging 8.5 rebounds early in the season. Marquette also faltered in their only game against a power conference program, losing to Indiana.
This is the first road game of the season for the Terrapins and they will try to overcome playing in a hostile environment here. Marquette is 3-0 at home on the season, but those three wins came against UAlbany, Little Rock, and Southern. This game will be a much tougher test for Marquette on their home floor.

I would say that Marquette has the slight advantage going into this game against Maryland. But I'm not convinced that the Golden Eagles are going to run away with this game either. I'll take the points with Maryland in this contest, as they should keep things close in what will be one of the most interesting matchups in college basketball on Saturday.
