The Chicago White Sox and Washington Nationals will play in the second game of their three-game series on Saturday. Both clubs are looking to salvage some positives from disappointing campaigns in the final series of the regular season. The Nationals will send Jake Irvin to the mound for this game. Irvin has a 9-13 record with a 5.69 ERA this season. His WHIP sits around 1.44 and he’s had limited consistency in length of starts and effectiveness when he is pitching. The White Sox will counter with Sean Burke, who is 4-11 with a 4.29 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP over 130 innings pitched this year. Burke is inconsistent but has been better overall than Irvin so far this season.
Washington has lost three of their last four games heading into the penultimate game of their 2025 season. The White Sox got a win in Friday's series opener and they snapped an extended losing streak by picking up that victory.

I don't feel particularly confident about the ability of either of these teams to go out and snag a win on Saturday afternoon. These are two of the worst teams in baseball taking part in a game that doesn't mean much of anything. Instead of relying on one of these teams to win this game, my best bet for this contest is for the over to cash. The White Sox should score against a struggling Jake Irvin and Washington should respond with some offense of their own to keep the game close and push it over the total.
