The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays will meet in Game 1 of the 2025 World Series on Friday night. These teams took very different paths to the World Series, with the Dodgers sweeping the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers and the Blue Jays needing seven games to advance past the ALCS over the Seattle Mariners. The Dodgers' ace and two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell will take the mound for Game 1. Snell has been dominant in the postseason, allowing only two earned runs over 21 innings with 28 strikeouts. His experience and ability to get outs without contact are part of the reason the Dodgers are favored in this series opener.
The Blue Jays are starting rookie Trey Yesavage. He is 22 years old and will become the second-youngest pitcher in history to start Game 1 of the World Series. Yesavage has a 3.21 ERA in the postseason, including a no-hit performance against the Yankees in the ALDS. But his lack of experience on such a grand stage could be a disadvantage.

The Blue Jays proved in the ALCS that they are incredible fighters capable of winning with their backs against the wall. But I think that the Dodgers have the upper hand in the opening game of the World Series. LA has a huge experience edge on the mound and I think Yesavage will falter to help the Dodgers take a 1-0 lead on the road.
