Detroit has received excellent pitching throughout much of June, but inconsistent offensive production has made it difficult to string together wins against elite opponents.
This game features a compelling pitching duel between Yankees left-hander Ryan Weathers and Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. Skubal remains one of the most difficult pitchers in baseball to square up, but the Yankees have one of the deepest lineups in the American League and continue to generate quality offensive numbers despite several key injuries. New York leads the American League East at 47-31, while Detroit enters the contest at 34-45.
Skubal gives Detroit a legitimate edge on the mound, but New York still owns a significant advantage offensively. The Yankees rank among baseball's best clubs in OPS and run production, while Detroit has struggled to consistently support its pitching staff. Ryan Weathers has also shown improved form recently, allowing only one run across 6.1 innings in his last start.

The Yankees remain my preferred side here because of their stronger lineup and overall team metrics. New York owns the best run differential in the American League and has continued to win despite injuries to several star players.
The under is attractive because both clubs send quality left-handers to the mound. Skubal owns a 3.02 ERA and continues to generate strikeouts at an elite rate. Weathers has quietly stabilized things after a difficult stretch and enters the game off one of his strongest outings of the season.
Skubal's strikeout prop rounds out the ticket. The left-hander averages nearly 10 strikeouts per nine innings and faces a Yankees lineup that is willing to work deep counts, creating opportunities for strikeouts even if he allows a few baserunners.

Chisholm enters the game in excellent form after delivering the decisive two-run homer in Tuesday's victory. He has been one of New York's hottest hitters over the past month and has seven home runs in his last 22 games. Against a left-handed starter, this price remains attractive given his recent power surge and ability to drive the ball to all fields.

Wednesday's finale should be a tightly contested game featuring two quality left-handed starters. Detroit has enough pitching to keep the contest close, especially with Skubal on the mound. However, New York owns clear advantages offensively, has been the better club throughout the season, and enters the game after regaining confidence with Tuesday's victory. They should be a live dog in Detroit here.
