The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays will face off in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday. Seattle took a 3-2 series lead with a late-inning comeback win at home on Friday. They will try to close this series out and get to the World Series with a win on the road here. Toronto’s choice to start rookie Trey Yesavage while facing elimination in this game is a bold one. Yesavage has pitched 9.1 postseason innings, striking out 15 batters while allowing four hits and five earned runs. He is good at generating swings and misses but can give up hard contact when he fails to miss bats. Seattle has yet to decide on a starting pitcher for this game and how they approach this game will be a huge factor in determining whether they can close this series out.
Seattle’s offense continues to lean on Cal Raleigh, who hit 60 home runs during the regular season and has been clutch in October. He tied Game 5 with a solo home run in the eighth inning on Friday. Eugenio Suárez remains a critical source of power after hitting two home runs in Game 5, including a game-winning grand slam in the eighth inning.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. anchors the Toronto lineup and has come up big at the plate throughout the postseason. George Springer’s postseason experience and power have also been huge for the Jays, even as he manages a knee bruise sustained in Game 5 after getting hit by a pitch.

This game is going to depend on the pitching on both sides. If Yesavage can pitch the way he did against the Yankees in his playoff debut, the Jays can force a Game 7. If Seattle's starter can give them enough quality innings to build an early lead, Seattle could punch its ticket to the World Series without having to play a Game 7. I think we will see Seattle win Game 6 and move onto the World Series to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
