The Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners will meet in Game 3 of the ALCS on Wednesday night. Seattle has taken a 2-0 series lead by winning two straight games on the road. The Mariners will try to take a commanding 3-0 series lead tonight, while the Jays try to get back into the series. Seattle hands the ball to George Kirby, who has made two postseason appearances so far. He’s logged 10 innings with 14 strikeouts and a 2.70 ERA. Kirby generates enough swings and misses to be a threat to the Toronto lineup, but he has given up a home run in the playoffs previously and will try to avoid more hard contact in this game.
Toronto will go with Shane Bieber to start this must-win game. The Blue Jays acquired him midseason in hopes that he’d bolster their pitching rotation in situations like this one. He has struggled in the postseason thus far, with a 6.75 ERA in 2.2 innings of work. He will need to be much better than that for the Jays to win this game.
