Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves Prediction - 9/24/2025

The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals will close out their three-game set on Wednesday at Truist Park. Both clubs are already eliminated from postseason contention and this game is largely just for pride. Atlanta is the favorite after winning the first two games of this series. Can Atlanta extend their impressive winning streak in this matchup? Continue reading to get my Nationals vs Braves prediction for Wednesday afternoon.
Bryce Elder draws the start for Atlanta today. He enters with an 8–10 record and a 5.36 ERA. His WHIP sits at 1.42. Elder has had a rough season, at times giving up hard contact and struggling to keep runners off the basepaths. Elder is the more experienced pitcher going into this game. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he is going to be the better pitcher in this game.
Washington counters with Andrew Alvarez, a rookie lefty who has just four MLB starts so far. He’s 1–1 with a 2.84 ERA and a modest 1.11 WHIP over those outings. That said, Alvarez’s major league sample of work is small, and he’ll be facing a red-hot Atlanta lineup with a chance to prove himself.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Ronald Acuña Jr. | Over 0.5 HR |
Michael Harris II | Under 1.5 Total Bases |
Score Projection: Braves 4 – Nationals 5
Win Probability: Braves 50%, Nationals 50%
Atlanta is at home and playing the best baseball they have played all season long. They have won 10 straight games and they have the more experienced pitcher throwing in this contest. But Bryce Elder has struggled throughout this season for the Braves and I'm not convinced that he will avoid struggling in this game. I think the Nationals have a high upside as an underdog in this game, as they should be able to score some early runs against Elder and make life difficult on him.
