The Charlotte Hornets will visit the Miami Heat on Tuesday night in the NBA. Both teams enter this game at 2‑1 and these Southeast Division rivals are playing for first place in the division tonight. Miami enters the contest without significant rotation contributors. Guard Tyler Herro is out recovering from left ankle surgery and won’t play, while backup guard Kasparas Jakucionis is also unavailable with a groin injury. Terry Rozier is also out due to legal issues. That puts added pressure on Miami’s core to carry the load at home in their absence. But the Heat have performed well so far and are coming off a home win over the New York Knicks.
Charlotte has been off to a good start to the season, thanks in large part to LaMelo Ball. He averaged 25.2 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.9 rebounds in 47 games last season. He appears primed for a big year if he can stay healthy. The Hornets will need him and Brandon Miller to show up in a big way in this contest if they are going to avoid dropping back to .500 for the season.

Charlotte is playing well early in the season, but I'm going to take the Heat to win and cover the spread on their home floor in this matchup. I was very impressed by Miami's performance at home against the Knicks over the weekend and they should deliver a repeat performance at home here. Give me the Heat to stay above the .500 mark and to take over sole possession of first place in the Southeast Division when this game is in the books.
