The Pistons enter this game at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, winners of 8 of their last 10 and enjoying success on both ends of the floor. Most recently, Detroit scored 136 points in a victory over Sacramento, with Cade Cunningham orchestrating one of his best all‑around efforts of the season, including 14 assists and multiple steals. Jalen Duren has produced consistent double‑doubles on this road swing. Detroit’s young core appears cohesive and aggressive, and they will try to take advantage of facing a dreadful Utah defense here.
Utah has endured a difficult season with a losing record and plenty of defensive shortcomings. In their last outing, they suffered a lopsided defeat to Denver, allowing 135 points as the Nuggets hit an overwhelming number of three‑pointers. Utah’s roster has been depleted by key absences, with Georges Niang out and Walker Kessler sidelined for the season due to a shoulder injury. I'm going to lay the points with the Detroit Pistons on the road on Friday night. The Pistons are better than Utah on both ends of the floor and Detroit should put up a ton of points against a Jazz defense that might be the worst in the NBA right now. Expect a double-digit win for Detroit in the return to action for both teams after Christmas.
