New York has yet to lose on their home floor and will try to stay unbeaten at Madison Square Garden. But the Timberwolves could be getting their top star back from injury to help them against New York. The Knicks enter this game with a four‑game home winning streak to start the season. They most recently dispatched the Washington Wizards 119‑102 at home. They were powered by a 33‑point, 13‑rebound performance from Karl‑Anthony Towns and a strong contribution from OG Anunoby (16 points, five steals). New York has won two games in a row and will try to pass a big test at home in this matchup.
The Timberwolves are also in decent form, fresh off a 125‑109 win over the Brooklyn Nets on the road. They have also won two games in a row, albeit against the abysmal Nets and Charlotte Hornets. Now the Timberwolves will aim for a third straight road win and their best road win of the young season so far.
The biggest storyline going into this game might be the health of Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves. Minnesota's star has missed a large portion of the season so far but is questionable for tonight's game. His return would be huge for the Wolves against a quality opponent.
There is also intrigue surrounding any meeting between these teams after their blockbuster trade before last season. New York sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota in exchange for Karl-Anthony Towns. I think that the Knicks hold the upper hand in this matchup at home. If Anthony Edwards was fully healthy, things might be different. But with Edwards at best playing hurt in this contest, I'll go with the Knicks to win and cover the spread to improve to 5-0 on their home floor for the season.
