The Pistons enter this contest as the Eastern Conference’s top team with a 25-9 record, sitting three games ahead of the second-place Knicks. Detroit is playing at home and has been particularly strong in front of its fans, compiling a 12-3 home record. The Knicks arrive in Detroit having lost three straight games, struggling on both ends of the floor as of late. Their defense has slipped, and offensive rhythms have been inconsistent in recent outings.
Injuries have been a problem for the Knicks of late, with Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson both missing recent games. Robinson is off the injury report ahead of this matchup, but Hart is listed as out again. At the same time, the Pistons are confronting their own injury setbacks. Center Jalen Duren and forward Tobias Harris are sidelined, which could give the Knicks the upper hand in the health department for once.
