Odds for this division are off the board for the 2025-26 season, as the Los Angeles Lakers have clinched the Pacific Division.
The Los Angeles Lakers are the winners in the NBA Pacific Division this season. The Lakers put things together nicely in the second half of the season, once Austin Reaves got healthy to go alongside Luka Doncic and LeBron James. The question from here will be whether or not the Lakers can hang with the Thunder and Spurs and become serious Western Conference title contenders. But for now, they can celebrate a division title.
The Phoenix Suns were the top contender alongside the Lakers to win the Pacific this year. This has been an up-and-down season for the Suns, as Devin Booker and Jalen Green spent some time dealing with injuries after the Suns got rid of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in the offseason. Phoenix will play postseason basketball in some capacity, as they will try to prove that they can compete with the best of the best in the West.
The Los Angeles Clippers are starting to put things together this season. Kawhi Leonard has been healthy and is still scoring at an elite level and frustrating opposing defenses. The trade of James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers has limited their ceiling, but the Clippers are still playing better basketball than they did early in the year when Leonard was hurting. Somehow, the absence of Bradley Beal from their lineup due to injuries has not hindered the Clippers, who have worked their way closer to playoff contention despite being a good distance behind the Lakers and Suns in the Pacific Division standings.
The Golden State Warriors have been dealt a huge blow this season, as Jimmy Butler suffered a season-ending injury before the All-Star break. Steph Curry is still one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league today, but he just hasn't had enough help this year, while Curry's own injury issues have relegated the Warriors to the play-in race out West. Golden State are locked into this year's play-in tournament, but they won't be expected to make much noise if they get to the proper playoffs.
The Sacramento Kings were one of the most fun teams in the NBA just a couple of seasons ago. But those days are over, as they retooled their roster and now look like the play-in-bound Chicago Bulls from a few seasons ago. The Kings have some tough decisions to make soon regarding the future of players like Domantas Sabonis, as it might be time for the Kings to blow things up and try again to build a contender, as they could end this season with the worst record in the West.
