The Philadelphia 76ers will face the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday at Barclays Center. Philadelphia enters at 4-1 on the season and coming off their first loss of the year. Brooklyn sits at 0-5 and looks like one of the worst teams in the NBA this year. Philly is favored to get a road win here, while the Nets will try to get into the win column for the first time. The 76ers are off to a strong start at 4-1 and appear to have found some offensive rhythm behind Tyrese Maxey. Maxey has averaged 35.2 points per game so far this season and will try to continue his torrid start. But the Sixers will be without Joel Embiid and Paul George for this contest. Those absences could alter Philadelphia’s overall offensive ceiling, but Maxey and rookie VJ Edgecombe will try to make up for that.
The Nets remain winless at 0-5 and have some significant defensive concerns. They are allowing 127.8 points per game (ranked 29th) and opponents are shooting 52.3% from the field against them (ranked 30th). They are averaging just 113.8 points per game on offense. Cam Thomas leads the Nets in scoring at 23.4 points per game, but this team has been a mess early in the year.

The Sixers should get the win in this contest in Brooklyn, though I am concerned about the absence of Embiid impacting them negatively. I am going to take the under as my best bet in this matchup, as the Sixers are going to be too reliant on Maxey and Edgecombe offensively to be highly efficient. The Nets should also struggle offensively and the under should cash in New York.
