San Antonio stunned Oklahoma City in Game 1 with a 122-115 double-overtime win behind a historic outing from Victor Wembanyama, who piled up 41 points and 24 rebounds on the road. The Thunder now return to Paycom Center needing a response after dropping their first game of the postseason. Here, I break down all the action and make my Spurs vs Thunder Game 2 prediction.
Game 1 produced one of the best playoff performances of the season. Wembanyama dominated both ends of the floor, and San Antonio controlled the glass while forcing Oklahoma City into difficult shots late in the game. The Spurs also received a major lift from rookie Dylan Harper, who finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and seven steals in a breakout playoff showing.
The biggest issue entering Game 2 is the health of De’Aaron Fox. The Spurs guard remains questionable with an ankle injury after sitting out the opener. His availability changes the entire flow of San Antonio’s offense. If Fox returns, the Spurs gain another downhill scorer and transition threat. If he remains out, Oklahoma City can pressure the younger San Antonio guards and attempt to force turnovers again.
For Oklahoma City, the focus starts with Gilgeous-Alexander. The MVP scored 24 points in Game 1 but shot just 7-for-23 from the field. The Thunder still managed to force overtime despite that inefficient outing, which suggests improvement is possible if their top scorer returns to his usual level. Oklahoma City also needs stronger production from Chet Holmgren after San Antonio repeatedly attacked the interior defense of OKC during the opener.
Fatigue could become a factor after both teams played deep into double overtime Monday night. Oklahoma City may hold an edge there because of its deeper bench rotation and the benefit of staying home for another game.

Oklahoma City should come out with far greater urgency in Game 2. Gilgeous-Alexander is unlikely to struggle again at the same level, and the Thunder have enough depth to wear down San Antonio late in the game. Expect Oklahoma City to make defensive adjustments against Wembanyama, push the pace more aggressively, and create cleaner looks from beyond the arc.
