The Washington Wizards (1‑10) head into the home of the Houston Rockets (6‑3) on Wednesday night for a game the Rockets are expected to win handily. Houston has established itself early this season as one of the more efficient squads in the NBA, while Washington continues to struggle on both ends of the floor. Houston enters the game off an impressive bounce‑back performance against the Milwaukee Bucks. Their offense shot 71.4% in the fourth quarter of that comeback win. They currently rank first in the league in 3‑point percentage (42.8 %) and lead the league in offensive rebound rate (41.4 %). Washington has managed only one win in 11 games and continues to struggle closing games out.
Injuries will play a role in this game. The Rockets are missing Fred VanVleet (ACL, out for season) and Dorian Finney‑Smith (ankle, out). Washington is missing a promising young player in Bilal Coulibaly (calf), which limits their already-thin rotation.
Houston comes into this game with a 2-1 record on their home floor this season. They have played six of their first nine games away from home and will try to take advantage of being on their home floor again here. Washington is 1-5 on the road for the season and got their lone win of the year away from home.

I don't think that the Wizards have it in them to win a game like this one on the road over the Rockets. But I do think that they can avoid being completely embarrassed here. I'm going to take the points with the Wizards, as they should get enough offense out of CJ McCollum and Alex Sarr to at least keep this game inside of 15 points when all is said and done in Space City.
