The Flames arrive with solid recent results, while the Kings are struggling to find consistent offense in the midst of a long losing streak. Calgary enters this clash having showed signs of life with a confident 4-1 win on Feb 27, led by two goals from Nazem Kadri. The Flames have collected a handful of positive results recently, including multi-goal outings and goals from contributors like Connor Zary and Mikael Backlund. Their offense, while near the bottom of the league, has played better of late to help them win three of their last four games. Meanwhile, the Kings return from a rough outing, having been beaten 8-1 by the Edmonton Oilers on Feb 27 and dropping multiple games in succession. That kind of loss can linger, but the schedule now favors a bounce-back on home ice, where Los Angeles traditionally plays better than on the road.
Goaltending could be a determining component. Calgary’s Dustin Wolf tends to be busy keeping his club in games and has delivered solid results against certain teams this season despite his numbers lacking. Los Angeles will likely go with Darcy Kuemper, who has shown moments of steadiness but also struggled with consistency. Whichever netminder has a better outing than usual will give their team a chance to get the victory here.
Nazem Kadri remains Calgary’s most reliable offensive presence, driving play and contributing goals and assists. Flames’ Matt Coronato also provides scoring in bunches for his team. For Los Angeles, Adrian Kempe continues to be a central part of their scoring attack, often finding his way onto the scoresheet. The supporting cast, however, has been inconsistent for the Kings, which partly explains their skid going into this contest.

Los Angeles’ home environment, slightly stronger season record, and urgency to stabilize their form make backing the Kings appealing to me. I'll take the Kings to win this contest, and don't mind the idea of backing LA to win in regulation.
