The Oilers are reeling, having just absorbed a demoralizing 9-1 home loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Every skater for the Oilers ended with a minus-rating and both goalies surrendered four goals or more. That outing exposed gaping defensive holes and was the third loss in a row for Edmonton going into this game.
The Blue Jackets are 7-7-0 and on the road, having lost three straight games as well. They have averaged just two goals per game during their three-game losing streak. Columbus is 4-4-0 on the road this season and will try to get back above the .500 mark both overall and on the road with a win in this matchup.
Edmonton's Stuart Skinner allowed four goals on 13 shots before being replaced against the Avs. He will try to get back on the right track starting in this game against the Blue Jackets.
