The Edmonton Oilers will head to Buffalo to take on the Sabres in an NHL matchup on Monday night. Edmonton's star power has not translated to as many wins as they would like early in the season. They will try to get a much-needed victory over a Sabres team that is sitting at the bottom of its division. The Oilers come into this meeting with a 9–7–4 record. Their road form has been shaky, going 4-6-2 away from Edmonton. The Oilers have won three of their last four games, with all three of those wins during that stretch coming in overtime. Buffalo is struggling, sitting at 6–8–4 for the season. The Sabres had a long losing streak snapped when they beat the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday and Buffalo will try to build on that.
Buffalo’s injury list is stacking up. Young forward Jiri Kulich is out indefinitely with a blood clot issue. Adding to the issues, Josh Norris is also expected to miss “a significant amount of time” due to an upper-body injury. Key defenseman Rasmus Dahlin is out as well, returning to Sweden for a family health matter. The Oilers have placed Ryan Nugent‑Hopkins on injured reserve and moved Kasperi Kapanen to long-term IR.

I'm going to take the Sabres as a home underdog to get the win in this game against Edmonton. The Oilers have the better top-end talent, but they are lacking in the depth department and have struggled on the road throughout the season.
