Minnesota Wild vs New York Rangers Prediction - 10/20/2025

The Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers will face off in the NHL on Monday night. Both of these teams are off to mediocre starts to the season and will try to get a much-needed win here at the legendary Madison Square Garden. Before the puck drops in this inter-conference matchup, continue reading for my Wild vs Rangers prediction.
Moneyline | Puckline | Total |
|---|---|---|
Rangers –130 / Wild +110 | Rangers –1.5 (+180) / Wild +1.5 (-235) | 5.5 goals |
The Wild are currently on a three-game losing streak after opening 2-1-1. They’ve averaged around 2.7 goals per game but have given up about 3.7 goals per game. Their power play is red-hot, converting at 38.5% early in the season. But even-strength scoring and defensive inconsistency remain areas of concern.
The Rangers come in at 3-3-1, fresh off a 4-3 victory in Montreal. They are still winless at home and will try to put a stop to their losing streak at The World's Most Famous Arena in this contest against a Wild team in the midst of a losing streak.
Filip Gustavsson is off to a disappointing start for Minnesota. He is 1-3 on the season so far and he has a disappointing .888 save percentage. If Gustavsson isn't better in this game, the Wild could drop a fourth game in a row on Monday night.
New York has Igor Shesterkin to rely on in goal. Shesterkin is 2-2-1 for the season, but his 1.00 GAA is so much better than his record would lead you to believe. As long as Shesterkin continues to be a brick wall in net for the Rangers, the wins will come for him and his team.
Minnesota's Kirill Kaprizov leads the Wild with nine points going into this game. The power-play conversion rate for Minnesota is the best in the league so far. If they can even get league-average production at full strength, the WIld could become something special this season. Adam Fox and Artemi Panarin have been the top playmakers for the Rangers. They have six points apiece and will try to make an impact on this game.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Kirill Kaprizov (MIN) | Over 0.5 Points |
Artemi Panarin (NYR) | Over 0.5 Assists |
Mika Zibanejad (NYR) | Over 0.5 Goals |
The New York Rangers should be able to win at home on Monday night. The Wild have been struggling to generate goals from full strength play and that should continue against a Rangers team with one of the hottest goaltenders in the league in Igor Shesterkin. I'll take New York on the moneyline as a favorite to hand the Wild their fourth loss in a row.
