Boston enters this one as the slight favorite on its home ice, but recent results and trends suggest this could be a tight game throughout. Will the Habs get the job done on the road, or will the Bruins get back into the win column? Here, I break it all down and make my Canadiens vs Bruins prediction.

The Canadiens come into this game having split their last six games with four wins and two losses, including a 4-0 shutout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins two games ago. Jacob Fowler’s performance in net was a highlight for Montreal. Fowler stopped all 31 shots he faced and earned his first NHL shutout, while Josh Anderson scored twice. Montreal followed that up with a shootout loss to the Pens, who got revenge on the Habs in that contest.
Boston has been less consistent in recent weeks. A 6-2 loss to Ottawa was a product of defensive lapses. Boston has lost three games in a row and they are in need of some better defending if the Bruins are going to find their way back into the win column.
Goaltending will be a focal point in this contest. Montreal’s rotation has seen Jacob Fowler step in and secure a shutout, boosting confidence for the rookie. Veteran Jakub Dobes has been solid this season as well, but save percentage issues have cropped up at times. Boston’s expected starter is Jeremy Swayman. Swayman has posted better numbers with a goals-against average below 2.8 and a stellar .906 save percentage, giving the Bruins a slight edge in net.
Boston’s offense is paced by the dynamic duo of Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak, who can generate scoring opportunities at even strength and on the power play. Pastrnak’s playmaking, combined with Geekie’s finishing, makes for a potent combination. Montreal has offensive pieces like Bolduc and Suzuki, who have found ways to impact the scoresheet.
