New York rides into Ottawa having taken four of its last five games, including a 3–2 overtime win at home over the Dallas Stars in their last game. That game saw the Rangers get 41 shots off, a season-high. That bounce-back showing followed a disappointing loss where the offense sputtered against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Rangers are 11–4–1 away so far this season and they will try to continue their winning ways on the road here.
Ottawa is 13–9–4 overall and 6–3–2 at home. They’ve split their last 10 games (5–4–1), averaging around 2.6 goals per game over that stretch. Their offense has been much better than their defense so far this season, with the Sens averaging 3.12 goals per game and conceding 3.31 goals per game. Ottawa will need to step up defensively if they want to earn a second straight win.
For Ottawa, the starter is expected to be Linus Ullmark. He has struggled this season, with a goals-against average north of 3.00. Combined with a subpar penalty kill, that raises real concern when facing a team like New York that is generating higher shot volume of late.
The Rangers are likely to go with Igor Shesterkin, who has posted a GAA of 2.45 and a save percentage of .912 over his time on the ice. Shesterkin gives them a solid chance to stay competitive, but the defenders in front of him will need to help him out.
Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers with 28 points (8 goals, 20 assists). The likes of Mika Zibanejad and Will Cuylle have also chipped in, with Cuylle notching 8 goals and 8 assists overall. Offensive balance will be important if New York is to pressure Ottawa’s shaky goaltending. On the Ottawa side, forwards like Tim Stützle and Drake Batherson are carrying most of the scoring burden, while defenseman Jake Sanderson helps generate transition chances from the back end.

Tim Stützle | Over 0.5 Points |
Will Cuylle | Over 0.5 Goals |
Score Projection: Rangers 4 – Senators 3
Win Probability: Rangers 45%, Senators 55%
This game could go either way as far as I'm concerned. But the best bet for this contest is for the over to cash at 5.5 goals. The Senators have been shaky defensively and that should continue here, while the Rangers are prone to defensive lapses themselves. I'll take the over and hope for goals from both sides.
