The Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers will meet on Saturday night in the NHL. Both teams are unbeaten on the season so far and will try to keep it that way with a win here. Will the defending champions get a third straight win at home to open their season, or will the Senators get a second straight victory? Here, I attempt to answer that question as I make my Senators vs Panthers prediction.

Florida enters on a 2–0 to start the season. They got a 3-2 win over Chicago in their opener, then won 2-1 over the Flyers in their second game. The Panthers have been hit by injuries to core forwards, as Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, and Tomas Nosek are unavailable. But they have still found a way to win close contests. Ottawa is 1–0 so far, getting a 5–4 win over Tampa Bay on the road. Their offense looked great in their opener, but their defending was suspect in that game.
Florida will likely go to Sergei Bobrovsky in net. Bobrovsky is coming off solid early-season showings. He has a 1.51 GAA and a .923 save percentage early on. Ottawa is expected to go with Linus Ullmark, who got the win despite letting in four goals in his first game of the season.
On Florida’s side, depth will be crucial. Players like Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe, and A.J. Greer may carry a heavier load with Barkov and Tkachuk out. Murray Samoskevich and others stepping up will help bridge the gap as well. Ottawa’s offensive leaders include Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stützle, and Shane Pinto. Pinto already has two goals and three points early. He will need to continue to produce.

Florida has not been as impressive early on as we saw them during their run to the Stanley Cup. But they have done a nice job in spite of the injuries that have impacted them. I'll take the Panthers to win this game and improve to 3-0 on home ice to start the year in spite of the injuries that have piled up for them.
