The San Jose Sharks (4-6-3) will head north to face the Seattle Kraken (6-2-4) in a Pacific Division matchup on Wednesday night at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. The Kraken enter the night in the top four in the Pacific Division and will try to continue their solid start to the season against a struggling Sharks squad. San Jose comes into this game with a 4-6-3 record. They’re averaging 3.23 goals per game but are allowing a full 4.00 goals per contest. Their penalty kill is also struggling at a 67.5% success rate and they need to clean that up if their defense is going to play better this season.
Seattle is 6-2-4 and allowing just 2.67 goals per game while scoring 2.75 goals per game. The Kraken need to improve offensively this season, but their defense has made them a playoff contender again after a rough year last year.
San Jose’s goaltending has been a major concern this season. Starter Yaroslav Askarov is 2-4-1 with a goals-against average of 4.29 and a save percentage of .867. Alex Nedeljkovic is 2-2-2 with a 3.29 GAA and a .895 save percentage. Seattle’s Joey Daccord has been impressive early on. He has a 2.53 GAA and a .910 save percentage. The goaltending edge clearly goes to Seattle in this game.
San Jose rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini leads their offense with 18 points (7 goals and 11 assists). Will Smith and William Eklund are contributing as well, but the team still lacks depth and defensive support behind that trio. Veteran winger Jordan Eberle (5 goals, 5 assists) and Jaden Schwartz (4 goals, 6 assists) are tied for the Seattle lead with 10 points on the season.

The Kraken should continue their strong start to this season on home ice in this game. I'm not sure that Seattle will cover the puckline, given how good San Jose has been as a puckline underdog this year. But I do recommend taking Seattle on the moneyline in this one.
