The St. Louis Blues (3-4-1) will face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins (6-2-1) on Monday night at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The Blues are struggling to find consistency coming into this game, while the Penguins are in solid form. Can the Pens continue their point streak or will the Blues put an end to their losing streak? The Blues are off to a rough start at 3-4-1. They’ve dropped three straight games and have just one win in their last five contests. They collapsed after leading 4-0 in Detroit in their last game and will need to avoid more defensive lapses and shaky goaltending to get back into the win column. Pittsburgh sits at 6-2-1 and has been effective in limiting opponents with their defense. Pittsburgh lost a shootout to the Columbus Blue Jackets in their last game and will try to bounce back from that tonight.
Pittsburgh’s net-minding has been steadier than that of St. Louis. Artur Silovs and Tristan Jarry have both been solid in net for the Pens and they will try to continue playing well against the Blues. Blues starter Jordan Binnington is 2-3-1 on the season and has a GAA of 3.12. He needs to be better for the Blues to reach their full potential.
Jake Neighbours and Robert Thomas have led the offense of the Blues. Neighbours has seven points and six goals on the season. Thomas leads the Blues with five assists. But consistency has been lacking from most of their skaters. The duo of Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby has been strong for the Penguins to open this season. Malkin leads the Pens with 14 points and Crosby leads them with six goals.

The Pittsburgh Penguins should come away with the win on Monday night at home. Pittsburgh has won two-thirds of their games this season and they should continue their winning ways against a Blues team that has given up over four goals per game early in the year. I'll take the Pens at around even money, especially with Thomas listed as day-to-day for St. Louis.
