The Hurricanes have been one of the steadier teams in the Eastern Conference this season, sitting at the top of the Metropolitan Division with a strong record thanks to a ton of success at home. The Canes won three straight games prior to the Olympic break and will try to extend that streak here.
Tampa Bay has also been consistent, winning six games in a row going into this contest. However, Tampa Bay will have to contend with the challenge of playing on consecutive nights after beating the Maple Leafs in their return to the ice on Wednesday night.
Goaltending remains a key determinant in games like this. Andrei Vasilevskiy has continued to be a backbone for the Lightning, posting a solid save percentage and anchoring Tampa Bay defensively. The Hurricanes have relied on their rotation to keep pucks out of the net, and Brandon Bussi has posted strong numbers when called upon.
