Vancouver Canucks vs Dallas Stars Prediction - 10/16/2025

The Dallas Stars will host the Vancouver Canucks in NHL action on Thursday night. The Stars are off to an undefeated start to the year and will try to keep things rolling against a Vancouver team that has struggled early on. Before these Western Conference teams take to the ice, continue reading to get my thoughts on this game, including my Canucks vs Stars prediction.
Jake Oettinger has started strong for Dallas. His start to the season has been highlighted by his 35-save performance in a 5–4 shootout win over Colorado. He remains the backbone of their defense and his .905 save percentage has been good enough for the Stars so far. Thatcher Demko made 34 saves for the Canucks in their loss to Edmonton. He is 1-1 on the season so far and will need to have a good night in net for the Canucks to have a shot here.
Dallas’ offensive engine is firing on all cylinders early on. Roope Hintz has already posted a multi-point effort and Wyatt Johnston has three goals in three games. Jason Robertson and Mikko Rantanen are also major threats, with Rantanen leading the stars with five points.
Brock Boeser remains one of the more dangerous forwards for the Canucks and Kiefer Sherwood has scored three goals in three games. However, the skaters for Vancouver have been inconsistent early, and Vancouver has yet to get traction offensively.

Dallas is playing some of the best hockey in the league early in the 2025-26 season. I expect that to continue in this game against a Canucks team that has struggled to do anything particularly well on the ice early on. I'll lay the puckline with Dallas here as they should improve to 4-0-0 on the young season.
