The Vegas Golden Knights (5-0-2) will travel to Sunrise to face the Florida Panthers (4-5-0) in a marquee matchup in the NHL on Saturday. Vegas are quietly making a statement with one of the best starts in the league. The Panthers are trying to right the ship in front of their own fans at Amerant Bank Arena. Vegas has opened the season 5-0-2 and are already perched at the top of the standings in the Western Conference. The Golden Knights are not only winning, but scoring at an elite clip. They are averaging over four goals per game and they’ve converted effectively on the power play.
The Panthers have stumbled to a 4-5-0 record early in the season. They are 3-1-0 at home, but their road form and consistency are lacking. Their recent 5-3 home loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins extended a slide in which Florida is 1-5-0 in their last six games.
Vegas have enjoyed stability in net despite an injury to starting goalie Adin Hill. Akira Schmid has performed very well in Hill's place and will try to continue that here. Sergei Bobrovsky is the starter for the Panthers. He is off to a disappointing start to the year with a save percentage below .900.
Vegas center Jack Eichel is in sensational form, ranking first in the NHL with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) through seven games. He’s constructing plays for his team, has fired 34 shots, and is uplifting Vegas’ power-play conversion. Florida captain Brad Marchand leads the team with 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists), but his production has yet to lift the Panthers out of their funk.

The Panthers have the talent to make this game competitive, but their inconsistency and recent slip-ups make Vegas my preferred play in this contest. I'll take the Golden Knights to extend their seven-game point streak to begin the season by winning this game on the road on Saturday night.
