The Winnipeg Jets head into Friday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche with plenty to prove. The Avalanche sit atop the NHL standings with one of the best records in the league and a historic home ice track record this season. Meanwhile, the Jets have struggled to maintain consistency, dropping the majority of their recent games and entering this contest with questions after back-to-back road losses. Here, I break down this important matchup on the ice and give you my Jets vs Avalanche prediction.

Colorado enters this game riding a strong wave of success, winning each of their last three outings. The Avalanche have the best record in the league and appear to be the favorites to win this year's Stanley Cup. Nathan MacKinnon has been instrumental, delivering elite production with multiple points in recent games. The Jets have struggled to string together wins, losing five of their last six, including a shutout at the hands of the Blues and an overtime loss to the Senators over their last two games.
The Avalanche has a strong goaltending tandem with Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood combining for 24 wins and just two regulation losses, helping Colorado maintain one of the stingiest defensive records in the league. Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck returned recently from injury but will need to be at his best for the Jets to have a shot in this matchup.

Look for the Avalanche to keep rolling opponents over at home, where they are 13-0-2 on the season thus far.
