Montreal enters the contest with a 13‑9‑3 record and has lost two games in a row coming into this one. Defense has been the main issue for the Habs after giving up 12 goals over their last two games. Winnipeg is 13‑12‑0 and has struggled lately, managing only one win in their last five games. They have been inconsistent on defense and with their goaltending, but their offensive potential remains dangerous.
Goaltending will once again be a huge factor in this one. The Jets have been dealing with uncertainty due to injury to starter Connor Hellebuyck, forcing reliance on backups who have struggled to deliver consistent results recently. For Montreal, netminding has also been erratic lately, with Sam Montembeault and Jakub Dobes both having GAAs over 3.00 for the season.
On the Jets side, forwards such as Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi remain the primary offensive weapons. Scheifele has been especially impressive, leading the Jets in both goals and assists so far this season. For the Canadiens, the onus falls on Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield to generate offense, especially on the power play, where Montreal’s conversion rate has been among the league’s best this season at 25.4%.

This is an interesting game that is going to tell us a lot about the heart of both of these clubs, as both sides try to end some poor runs of form. I think the Jets have the upper hand going into this game, as they have the offensive weapons to take advantage of the recent struggles in net for Montreal. I'll take the Jets on the moneyline at close to a pick 'em price, though I can understand the desire to lay the puckline with the Jets as well.
