Sunday's Serie A fixture at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare is shaping up to be a potentially season-defining relegation battle. Lecce host Cremonese in what is arguably the most important match either side will play all season, a genuine six-pointer between two clubs sitting level on 24 points with the Serie A relegation zone right behind them. One win here could mean breathing room. A defeat could feel season-defining.

Both clubs arrive at matchday 28 locked together on 24 points, separated only by goal difference. Lecce sit 18th inside the drop zone, while Cremonese hold 17th on that same thin cushion. Both managers know that defeat here could leave their sides in a genuinely desperate position with just 10 rounds remaining.
Lecce have been wildly inconsistent this season. Back to back wins over Udinese and Cagliari in February gave real hope, but that was quickly followed by defeats to Inter and Como. Backing both teams to score No at -149 also has merit here for the same reasons.
This has all the signs of a tight, low scoring contest where neither side is willing to take risks. Lecce's long-term home record against Cremonese is strong, and their greater squad depth may prove the difference late on. Cremonese's 13-game winless run is simply too hard to bet against on the road. A narrow Lecce home win with goals at a premium is the most likely outcome.
