Key Storylines
- Clemson enters this contest at 10-3 on the season, riding a three-game winning streak and closing non-conference play in solid fashion. They have shown a tenacious defense that can limit scoring opportunities and force turnovers. Clemson’s ability to control tempo should also be a factor, as they play with one of the slowest tempos in all of college basketball.
- Syracuse is enjoying a strong home track record this year, going 8-1 at the JMA Wireless Dome. They most recently dismantled Stonehill 77-48, with Naithan George leading the way with 22 points. The Orange rank well defensively within the ACC and benefit from their home-court advantage more than most teams. But strength of schedule is a huge question mark going into their first conference game of the year.
- Offensively, Syracuse averages near 75 points per game. A key dynamic will be how effectively each team shoots from beyond the arc and converts possessions into points. The Orange shoot a slightly higher percentage from the field this season, but they did so against a weaker slate of opponents and will try to overcome that here.

Final Thoughts
This game should be a close contest between two ACC teams off to strong starts this season. But I'm going to lay the points with Clemson on the road, as they have taken on much tougher competition and should benefit from that in this contest. Syracuse will put up a fight on New Year's Eve, but this game is Clemson's to lose as far as I'm concerned.
