Providence enters this game with some momentum after a 93-88 victory over Creighton in which freshman Stefan Vaaks scored a career-high 24 points and Jamier Jones added a double-double. The Friars lead the Big East in scoring (88.9 ppg) and excel at free throws and offensive rebounding, but they have struggled defensively and are 2-5 in conference play. Top scorer Jason Edwards, averaging 17.2 ppg, has missed the last two games with a foot injury and remains questionable for this contest. That is something huge to watch going into this one.
Marquette has won just one conference game and is shooting a modest 41.1% from the field this season. Guard Sean Jones is out with a foot issue, though forward Ben Gold returned from an ankle injury in their recent loss to DePaul. Marquette has won the past four meetings against Providence and owns the series edge, but this season’s struggles have made covering spreads difficult for them with any sort of regularity.

I'll go with Marquette to win this matchup on their home floor, though it's hard to feel truly confident about either of these teams performing based on what we have seen from them so far this season and especially during Big East play.
