Akron and Toledo are set to face off in a Mid-American Conference matchup on Saturday at the Glass Bowl in Toledo. The Zips enter the game with a 1–3 record, while the Rockets are 2–2. The Akron Zips have faced difficulties on offense this season, averaging just 19.8 points per game. They ended their winless start to the season with a 51–7 win over Duquesne last time out. But they haven't fared well against any of their FBS opponents this year and that is expected to remain the case this week.
Toledo has a potent offense, averaging 33.5 points per game. The Rockets' ground game, led by Chip Trayanum, has been effective. Their defense ranks 13th nationally, allowing just 14.8 points per game. Toledo held Kentucky out of the SEC to just 24 points and will be expected to give the Akron offense trouble as well.
Akron has scored an average of 9.3 points per game in their three games against FBS competition so far this year. I think that the offensive struggles of the Zips will continue in this contest against a Toledo team that has held its own on defense against most of their opponents. I'll lay the points with the Rockets in this game as they should even their record at 1-1 in the MAC with a convincing victory here.
