Kent State and Toledo will meet in the MAC on Saturday afternoon. The Rockets are one of the biggest favorites on the college football schedule on Saturday. They will try to get above .500 with a win against a Kent State team that got its first win over an FBS opponent a week ago. Toledo quarterback Tucker Gleason has thrown for over 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns this season. He has the help of a very good running game. Chip Trayanum is averaging 100 yards per game on the ground for the Rockets and he has seven rushing touchdowns. Both Gleason and Trayanum will like their chances of having success against Kent State's defense.
Kent State has experienced inconsistency at the quarterback position. Dru DeShields likely had his best game as a college football player last week. He threw four touchdown passes in Kent State's blowout win over UMass. But UMass is one of the few teams in the country worse than Kent State and DeShields will try to perform against tougher competition this week.
Last Saturday's win for Kent State was their first win over an FBS opponent since 2022. They went 1,050 days without registering a victory over a team from the FBS. The win over UMass was their most lopsided win as a program since they defeated Akron back in 2021. Their joy is likely to be short-lived, but any progress is still progress for a team like Kent State that is trying to find its footing.

I'm happy for Kent State that they were able to end their years-long losing streak against FBS opponents last week. But I don't think they will come anywhere close to a second straight win here. My best bet for this game is for Toledo to win and cover the spread at home, as the Rockets should improve to 2-2 in the MAC.
