COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Purdue comes in with the more proven Power Four roster, but last season’s statistical profile was uneven. The Boilermakers averaged just 18.8 points per game and 5.28 yards per play, while their defense surrendered 31.8 points per game. That profile suggests a team that can be vulnerable to long stretches without clean offensive execution, even in games it is expected to control. Indiana State’s current data is limited to one game, so it should be read carefully, but it has been efficient enough to avoid looking overmatched on paper. The Sycamores have posted 288.0 passing yards per game, 346.0 total yards per game, and 5.5 yards per play, while allowing 327.0 yards per game and 5.0 yards per play. Those numbers support the idea that Indiana State can contribute enough offense to keep the game moving without necessarily forcing a full-blown scoring burst.
Purdue should win at home, but the best betting value is on a lower-scoring game than the market is pricing. My projection is Purdue 38, Indiana State 17, for a total of 55, which supports the under 57.5 more than a side at the current spread. Purdue has the more complete roster, but its recent offensive numbers were modest enough to make a blowout-driven over less attractive.
