Blake Snell enters Game 5 looking to bounce back after a rough outing in Game 1, when he allowed several runs in the sixth inning of an 11-4 defeat. Snell has been excellent throughout the postseason outside of that one start and he has the strikeout stuff to silence Toronto’s power bats. His ability to locate early and avoid deep counts will be key.
Rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage will get the ball for the Blue Jays in this massive game. He allowed just two runs over four innings in Game 1, showing poise beyond his years. If he can keep Los Angeles quiet through the early innings, the Blue Jays’ bullpen is relatively fresh after a lighter workload in Game 4 and can give the Jays the edge late.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remains the heartbeat of the offense for Toronto. His two-run homer in Game 4 gave Toronto a lead and flipped the momentum of the series. Bo Bichette and Daulton Varsho have also provided consistent contact at the top of the order.
