Injuries are a huge factor for this matchup. The Celtics are without star Jayson Tatum for the season due to an Achilles injury, and Josh Minott remains unavailable. Jaylen Brown is listed as day-to-day but is expected to play. Derrick White and Payton Pritchard have taken on greater offensive loads in Boston’s balanced attack, with Brown still averaging nearly 30 points per game, but getting support from other sources. Boston’s defense ranks among the best in the league, yielding just over 110 points per contest, helping keep the team competitive despite missing its franchise cornerstone.
The Heat enters this game with their own uncertainties. Norman Powell leads Miami in scoring, while Bam Adebayo continues to give solid production inside. However, Tyler Herro and Nikola Jovic are listed as probable, Jaime Jaquez Jr. is questionable, and Davion Mitchell is doubtful.
