The Brooklyn Nets will face the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night in a game between two struggling Eastern Conference teams. These teams have one combined win between them, but the good news here is that one of these teams is required to win this game. Who will be the team that gets that win? I will attempt to answer that question below with my Nets vs Pacers prediction.
Brooklyn remains winless and is desperately seeking relief from an 0‑7 start. Their offense has struggled, ranking near the bottom in points per game and shooting efficiency. Their defense has been the worst in the league by many metrics. But this game offers them a chance to get a win over a similarly struggling opponent.
Indiana hasn’t been much better than Brooklyn. Their 1‑6 record belies the fact that early‑season injuries and inconsistency have made it hard for them to play at the level they did during last year's NBA Finals run. But they do have a win over the Golden State Warriors this season and are capable of playing well despite all of the injuries impacting them.
Pascal Siakam is leading the Pacers with 26.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Brooklyn’s offensive burden falls heavily on Cam Thomas (24.4 PPG) and Michael Porter Jr. (20.8 PPG). But both teams have lacked consistent contributions from other players. The Nets are without Haywood Highsmith due to injury, while Indiana is without Andrew Nembhard, Bennedict Mathurin, and Tyrese Haliburton. None of those absences are helpful when a team is struggling as much as these teams are.

The Pacers should win this game at home to get a second victory on the season at the expense of the winless Nets. But I'm not sure I like the idea of backing either team to get a win right now with how bad they have played. Instead, I'm going to take the over in this matchup, as both defenses should continue to struggle against some good individual offensive talent.
