Portland snapped a losing streak with a gritty 114-108 win over Boston on Sunday, led by Shaedon Sharpe’s 26 points and a double-double from Deni Avdija. Big man Donovan Clingan asserted himself with 18 points and 18 rebounds in a statement performance. That effort halted a home losing streak and could spark confidence entering Monday’s contest. But the Trail Blazers are on the second game of a back-to-back here and they have to overcome any fatigue to get a second straight win.
Dallas has struggled away from home, dropping their last six road games and demonstrating defensive lapses in a 126-116 loss to Golden State on Christmas Day. Rookie Cooper Flagg has been a bright spot for Dallas with consistent scoring, but health concerns persist for the Mavericks. Anthony Davis is listed as questionable after exiting a recent game with groin spasms and others are dealing with availability issues that have made it hard for the Mavs to realize their full potential.

The Trail Blazers were impressive in their win over the Celtics last night. But asking Portland to come back and get a win on the second leg of a back-to-back here might be too much to ask. I'm going to take the points with the Mavs here, as the Blazers will win in a close game if they win, while the Mavs could very well win this contest outright.
