Detroit handled business at home in the first two games before Cleveland answered with a 116-109 victory on Saturday to avoid falling into a nearly impossible 0-3 hole. Now the pressure swings toward Detroit, which needs a road win to regain full control, while Cleveland looks to even the series before it heads back to Michigan. Here, I break down this matchup and make my Pistons vs Cavaliers Game 4 prediction in the betting markets.
The Cleveland Cavaliers finally showed signs of life offensively in Game 3 after struggling badly in Detroit. The Cavaliers shot over 58% from the field and got aggressive, attacking the paint instead of settling for contested perimeter shots. Donovan Mitchell exploded for 35 points and 10 rebounds, while James Harden cleaned up his turnover issues and controlled the pace late in the fourth quarter.
The biggest concern for Detroit entering Game 4 is health and depth. Kevin Huerter and Caris LeVert are both listed as questionable. Detroit has relied heavily on Cade Cunningham to create offense, and any reduction in bench scoring could become a serious issue on the road.
Another major factor has been rebounding. Detroit continues to dominate the offensive glass and generate second-chance scoring opportunities. Cleveland improved in the second half of Game 3, but if the Pistons continue grabbing extra possessions, they can keep this game close deep into the fourth quarter.
Cleveland finally discovered the offensive balance it needed in Game 3.
