The Oklahoma City Thunder head into Monday night with a chance to finish off a dominant sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals. Oklahoma City has controlled the series from the opening tip of Game 1, winning each contest by double digits while exposing the Lakers’ lack of scoring depth without Luka Doncic. The Thunder enter the night unbeaten in the postseason and continue to look like the strongest team left in the playoffs. Here, I analyze their chances on Monday night and make my Thunder vs Lakers Game 4 prediction.
The Oklahoma City Thunder has looked unstoppable through seven playoff games. The Thunder swept Phoenix in the opening round and now sit one win away from eliminating the Lakers in four games. Their defense has fueled the entire run, forcing mistakes and converting turnovers into easy transition points. Oklahoma City outscored Los Angeles 74-49 in the second half of Game 3 and continues to wear teams down with depth and athleticism.
The biggest issue for the Lakers remains the absence of Luka Doncic, who is still sidelined with a hamstring injury. Without him, Los Angeles lacks another elite shot creator to ease pressure on LeBron James. The Lakers have struggled badly in third quarters throughout the series and have failed to keep Oklahoma City from getting clean perimeter looks.
Everything in this series points toward another Oklahoma City victory in Game 4. The Thunder have dominated defensively, controlled the pace, and generated consistent offense even without Jalen Williams in the lineup. Their depth has been the biggest difference, especially late in games when the Lakers run out of scoring options behind LeBron James.
The betting line is large for a playoff game, but Oklahoma City has covered comfortably in all three meetings in this series so far. Los Angeles simply has not shown the ability to slow down Gilgeous-Alexander or keep the Thunder from attacking in transition.
