The Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers will meet in a Monday night NBA matchup in Portland between two teams moving in opposite directions. Detroit enters as one of the league’s best teams, having built a strong record behind the all-NBA level play of Cade Cunningham. Portland is under .500 for the season but they are playing better of late and will try to get a fourth straight win here. Detroit sits at the top of the Eastern Conference with one of the league’s better records at 22-6. They have a balanced attack led by Cade Cunningham and strong interior play from Jalen Duren. In their most recent outing, the Pistons dominated the Charlotte Hornets 112-86, with Cunningham recording a triple-double and multiple players scoring in double figures in another testament to Detroit's depth and cohesion.
Portland comes off a 134-133 overtime win over Sacramento and will be looking to continue to build confidence at home. Portland has won three games in a row and they have worked their way into the top 10 in the Western Conference standings. However, star wing Jerami Grant is listed as questionable with ongoing Achilles soreness, and Portland continues to cope with the absences of players like Scoot Henderson, Jrue Holiday, and Matisse Thybulle.

Detroit should continue its winning ways on the road against the Trail Blazers on Monday night. I'm going to lay the points with the Pistons here, as their depth should help them to create separation against a Trail Blazers team that is missing so many key contributors due to injury. Even if Grant is able to play for the Trail Blazers, Detroit should win this game by a few possessions in Rip City.
