The Memphis Grizzlies will face the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night in a game that both teams could really use. Both squads are under the .500 mark for the year and need to find a way to build some momentum going forward. Boston is the favorite on their home floor and will try to take advantage of fatigue issues for the Grizzlies. Here, I break down this inter-conference matchup and make my Grizzlies vs Celtics prediction.
Boston is navigating through a season‑opening slump. They have a 5‑7 record and they are coming off a loss in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. The Grizzlies are also struggling and on the second night of a back-to-back in this game. Memphis is 4-8 on the season and took a double-digit loss at the hands of the New York Knicks on Tuesday. Both teams will have to get the job done on tired legs tonight.
The Grizzlies’ injury list is concerning. Brandon Clarke is out with knee synovitis. Ty Jerome is projected to miss at least four weeks with a strained calf. Scotty Pippen Jr. is sidelined with a toe issue. Zach Edey is listed day‑to‑day with an ankle injury and could make his return in this contest, providing some much-needed optimism. Boston is without Jayson Tatum (Achilles) and is leaning on Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and the supporting cast to step up in his absence.

Both of these teams have to overcome playing on Tuesday night in order to get a win here. But I think that the Celtics have the advantage at home in this game. Even if Edey comes back for the Grizzlies, he should be limited in terms of his workload in his return. I'll lay the points with Boston and bank on their superior three-point shooting to help them get a much-needed win at TD Garden.
