The Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs will meet on Thursday night at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The Spurs are playing at a high level going into this game and they will try to stay undefeated against a Heat team that is also playing well despite some major injuries on their side. The Spurs have begun their season at 4-0 and they will look for a fifth straight win to start their season tonight. Their defense has looked sharp, ranking at the top of the league in points per game allowed so far. The Heat are 3-1 and come into this game on a three-game winning streak. They bring one of the more efficient offenses in the NBA early in the season and will look to put another big number on the scoreboard tonight.
San Antonio will be without several contributors, including De’Aaron Fox (hamstring), Jeremy Sochan (wrist), Luke Kornet (ankle), and Kelly Olynyk (heel). Miami is missing Tyler Herro (ankle), Terry Rozier (crime), and has Norman Powell (groin) and Nikola Jovic (hip) questionable. This will put pressure on both the stars on both teams, as well as the role players who will see increased usage.
This game pits the number one offense in the NBA against the number one defense. Miami leads the league in scoring at 131.5 points per game, despite being without Herro early on. The Spurs will face a tough test on defense as they look to prove they are legit on that end of the floor here.

My expectation for Thursday night is for the San Antonio Spurs to remain undefeated on the season. They should get a win and cover the spread at home tonight against a Heat team that should regress somewhat on the offensive end of the floor against an elite Spurs defense. Look for Victor Wembanyama to make life difficult on Bam Adebayo in the painted area and for the Spurs to move to 5-0 on the year.
