The Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz will meet in the NBA on Wednesday night in Salt Lake City. Both teams are .500 or better going into this game and both will be trying to improve on their strong starts with a win tonight. Portland enters the game with a 2‑2 record but with significant roster concerns. Guards Scoot Henderson (hamstring) and Damian Lillard (Achilles) are out and center Robert Williams III is also unavailable. Veterans like Jrue Holiday and forwards such as Deni Avdija have stepped up to help the Trail Blazers stay competitive in spite of their injuries.
Utah has started the season at 2‑1 and is riding high after a breakout performance by Lauri Markkanen in their last game. Markkanen had 51 points in Utah's overtime win over the Phoenix Suns in their last outing. Injuries are also a concern for the Jazz. Jusuf Nurkic is questionable with a hip contusion, while Isaiah Collier and Georges Niang remain sidelined. Utah’s home court advantage and the play of Markkanen will be keys as the Jazz try to overcome their injury issues.

This game is a toss-up as far as I'm concerned. Both of these teams have done a spectacular job of exceeding expectations early in the season. I think that will continue here as these teams will put on a highly competitive game out West. I lean toward the Jazz winning and covering the spread at home, as this game should come down to the final couple of possessions in what should be a fun one in Utah.
