The Utah Jazz head to Denver on Monday night to take on the Denver Nuggets in a Western Conference contest that pits a Jazz squad trying to climb out of a slump against a Nuggets team that has been one of the best in the league this season. Utah comes into this contest having lost two of its last three games, as their offensive firepower has been offset by their defensive struggles. The Jazz score at a high clip, averaging 119.9 points per game, but they give up close to 127 points per outing, ranking at the bottom of the league defensively. Lauri Markkanen leads the team in scoring, but is listed as day-to-day with a groin issue that clouds his availability. Walker Kessler is out for the season with a shoulder issue and Kessler’s absence further weakens Utah’s rim protection, while Georges Niang and Kevin Love are also out.
Denver has been playing well aside from a recent loss ot the Houston Rockets that snapped a long winning streak. They are demonstrating the kind of offensive balance that can make them dangerous in the Western Conference. Nikola Jokić continues to deliver MVP-level numbers while Jamal Murray provides aggressive scoring and playmaking. However, Denver does have some injury concerns of its own, with Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun ruled out.

The Nuggets have a clear advantage going into this matchup against the Jazz. Utah's defense has been horrible this year, allowing more points per game than any other team in the NBA. Denver should take full advantage of that in this game, as Jokic and Murray should lead the Nuggets back into the win column after their stumble against the Rockets in their most recent outing.
