For Houston, the return of C.J. Stroud has been a huge plus for them. As of early December, Stroud is back under center after clearing concussion protocol. His season numbers don’t jump off the page, but he is much easier to trust than Davis Mills, as we saw in Houston's huge road win over the Indianapolis Colts last week.
On the other side, Patrick Mahomes remains the heart of Kansas City’s offense. Mahomes could use some help from his skill position players, but he is always capable of making Mahomes Magic on his own. The combination of Kansas City's offensive woes and a determined Texans defense makes this far from a routine home win for KC.
My best bet for this game is the under. Both defenses in this contest are incredible and they should get plenty of stops here. I'm expecting a playoff-like atmosphere in this matchup and for us to get a low-scoring game between these teams that are no strangers to playing each other in high-stakes games.
