This Los Angeles Chargers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in a Week 15 showdown in the NFL on Sunday. This game comes with significant postseason implications with both teams fighting for positioning as they head toward the home stretch of the NFL season. The Chiefs are 6–7 and are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, while the Chargers are 9–4 and are in control of their own destiny. This Week 15 matchup features some desperation on both sides. The Chiefs enter with their backs against the wall, having lost four of their past five games and seeing their AFC West title streak snapped with four weeks left to play. Their 20–10 defeat to the Houston Texans last week was another disappointing performance from the KC offense, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes tossing three interceptions. Injuries across the offensive line and the loss of key skill players have compounded their issues.
The Chargers have built a 9–4 record, including a recent overtime victory over the Super Bowl champion Eagles. Justin Herbert is expected to play again in this game despite a hand injury, while the defense of the Chargers has stepped up in a big way in recent weeks. LA's defense has held four of its last five opponents under 21 points and will likely need another defensive gem to win here.
Patrick Mahomes, even in a down year by his standards, remains one of the most impactful quarterbacks in football. Mahomes’ struggles last week reflect both protection issues and struggles from skill position players, elements the Chiefs must six quickly if they hope to ignite their offense this weekend.
On the other sideline, Justin Herbert is contending with a left-hand injury that has limited him in practice. Herbert’s ability to grip and release the ball effectively will be a defining factor for the Chargers’ offense, as limited arm strength could cause problems for the Chargers against a dangerous Chiefs pass rush.
